• Write a subroutine that translates words of one language into words of English. Put this in its own module file. Try to make sure that there are no redundancies in your code...
  • Write a program that uses that module file to translate words on the command-line into English.
  • Write a second program that uses that module file to translate words in a file into English.
• Write a subroutine that makes past tenses from English verbs. (We haven't gotten to regular expressions yet, so you may need to make use of the substr() command to do this.)

  For our purposes, let's assume there are three classes of past tenses, e.g. totally regular verbs like look-looked, totally exceptional verbs like write-wrote, and rule-governed cases like permit-permitted.

  Put the subroutine in its own module file and then invoke it as follows:

  • from the command-line
  • at the prompt
